Our Origin

2010 was the founding year of Serafin. It started as a diverse industrial focused company group out of Munich. More than 10 years later, the non-industrial ventures were launched with the founding of Night Train Media, followed by Serafin Asset Management and the private equity company Sevest.

The Haindl family's
entrepreneurial spirit
The Serafin shareholder family sold Haindl Papier in 2001. For 150 years, the family exclusively owned the company, which grew to become Germany's largest paper manufacturer with €1.6 billion in sales and a workforce of 4,000 employees.

Serafin Group, the industrial core
Beginning in 2010, Philipp Haindl, together with his Co-Founders, cultivated a diverse industry group with a combined revenue of over 1 billion EUR and 4,500 employees. The Serafin Industry Group concentrates on investing in established medium-sized businesses that possess a viable business model and can be further grown through strategic and operational measures.

SeraVerse  - the venture universe
SeraVerse adapted the Serafin investment and value creation approach to non-industrial businesses. The journey started with the investment into Night Train Media in 2020. The expansion into the financial industry started in 2020/2021, followed by the launch of Sevest, a private equity fund, in 2022. Since 2023, SeraVerse serves as an umbrella for all of Philipp Haindl's non-industrial ventures.

Philipp Haindl
Founder
Philipp Haindl, founder of Serafin Group, Sevest, Night Train Media, Serafin Asset Management and SeraVerse, has extensive experience in M&A, a background in KPMG's audit department, corporate finance, and business analysis. He holds a Master's in Global Economic History from the London School of Economics.
Christoph Auer
Managing Director
Christoph Auer holds a BA in Management & Law and an MBA. He has experience as a consultant in the automotive industry, strategic transformation roles at Hoffmann Group, and Serafin Group. As Managing Director of SeraVerse GmbH, Christoph serves as the Operating Partner for all companies.
Dr. Dominik Socher
Managing Director
Dr. Dominik Socher trained as a banker, studied Business Administration at LMU Munich and subsequently earned his doctorate in economics and social sciences. With experience at KPMG and Duff & Phelps, he joined Serafin Group in 2011. As Managing Director for Serafin Group, he oversees acquisitions and financing, and now also leads M&A and corporate finance at SeraVerse.
Dr. Annabell Grupp
Head of Legal
Dr. Annabell Grupp, Head of Legal at SeraVerse, joined Serafin Group as Director Legal Counsel in 2015. She specializes in all aspects of corporate law, with a particular focus on M&A. Annabell started her career in 2011 at Weil Gotshal & Manges as a lawyer in the areas of private equity, mergers & acquisitions and venture capital. She is a graduate of the University of Augsburg (law degree and Dr. iur.).
Matthias Reinsch
Manager Structured Finance & Group Controlling
Matthias Reinsch, trained as a banking specialist, holds a B.A. in Economics & Management and an M.Sc. in Management with a focus on finance and transformation from HHL Leipzig Graduate School. He has a long career in banking, covering corporate finance, SME leverage finance, and acquisition finance. Matthias joined Serafin in 2024.
Daniel Köhler
Senior Manager Strategy & Value Creation
Daniel Köhler holds a Master’s in Economics from the University of St. Andrews. He scaled an insurance unicorn, founded two companies, and led a midcap automotive parts manufacturer. At SeraVerse, he drives strategic growth and efficiency in the Strategy & Value Creation Team.
