Windward Offshore, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, is pleased to announce the execution of options for two additional VARD 4 19 Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs). This expansion brings their total order to four vessels, continuing their strategic relationship with VARD and reinforcing their commitment to eco-friendly technologies and sustainable offshore operations.
The addition of these two vessels marks a significant milestone in Windward Offshore’s mission to deliver comprehensive offshore wind solutions. The vessels are designed to minimize environmental impact while ensuring the highest safety standards, which is crucial for sustainable offshore operations.
The VARD 4 19 design is a versatile platform for sustainable offshore wind farm support operations, focusing on onboard logistics, security, comfort, and superior operability. Each vessel, measuring 87.5 meters in length and 19.5 meters in beam, will feature a height-adjustable motion-compensated gangway with an elevator system and a height-adjustable boat landing system. This advanced design facilitates safe and efficient transfer of personnel and equipment, even in challenging sea conditions.
To achieve energy-efficient operations, the vessels will be equipped with a comprehensive SeaQ package from Vard Electro, including systems for power, control, bridge, and communication. The integration of these systems ensures optimal performance and reliability, which are critical for the demanding environment of offshore wind farms. Additionally, Vard Interiors will deliver advanced HVAC-R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) and interior concepts, enhancing the living and working conditions for the crew.
In line with Windward Offshore’s commitment to sustainability, the CSOVs are prepared for future operation on green methanol. This readiness positions the vessels at the forefront of the transition to low-emission maritime operations. By reducing fuel consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions, these vessels contribute significantly to the environmental goals of the offshore wind industry.
Each vessel will have accommodation for 120 persons onboard, providing ample space for crew members, technicians, and other personnel required for large-scale offshore wind projects. The design prioritizes comfort and safety, ensuring that those on board can work efficiently and rest effectively during long deployments.
The first vessel is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2025, with the remaining three vessels joining the fleet in 2026. These modern vessels will support energy providers worldwide in constructing, commissioning, and maintaining offshore wind parks. The initial announcement of the joint venture has already been well received by a variety of customers across different regions, highlighting the strong market demand for Windward Offshore's services.
Windward Offshore's expansion underscores its dedication to sustainability and innovation. By integrating cutting-edge technologies and focusing on eco-friendly operations, the company aims to play a pivotal role in the energy transition. The vessels will significantly enhance Windward Offshore's capabilities, enabling it to offer a comprehensive offshore wind service platform that combines extensive maritime and offshore wind industry expertise.
Windward Offshore is set to make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector with its expanded fleet of state-of-the-art CSOVs. This initiative reflects the company's unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the renewable energy sector. As Windward Offshore continues to grow, it remains dedicated to providing clean, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions for a better future.
